In 1978,
Calvin LeBouef was recruited by Cecil McCroy to assist in
running the parish Livestock show. He is a member of the
American Legion and the Woodmen of the World.
Since 1997, he has been serving on the Brand and Theft
Commission with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture.
He is currently serving as the vice president of the
Vermilion Parish Farm Bureau and has been an active member
of the board for many years.
He is also a past board member of the Louisiana Equine
Commission and a past president of the Vermilion Parish
Cattlemen Association.
At the present time, he is serving on the Board of Louisiana
Cattlemen Association, the Louisiana Beef Industry Council,
as well as many Vermilion Advisory Committees.
For 10 years, he served as vice president of the Louisiana
Cattle Festival and has been a board member since the late
‘70s.
In 1987, he was chosen as “Cattleman of the Year” by the
Louisiana Cattle Festival, Vermilion Cattleman and the
Louisiana Cattlemen Association.
In 1995, the 4-H Achievement Day was dedicated to him for
his many years of dedication and service to the 4-H program.
The Woodmen of the World honored him with the Conservation
Award in 2006.
Also in 2006, the Louisiana Cattle Festival honored him with
the Humanitarian Award as one of the individuals who
spearheaded the rescuing of livestock from the flooded areas
after Hurricane Rita.
While serving on the Louisiana Cattle Festival Board for 25
years so far, Lorraine LeBouef has received the Volunteer of
the Year Awad and Citizen of the Year from the Louisiana
Cattle Festival.
As an active volunteer to the 4-H program in Vermilion
Parish for many years, she has judged and presented numerous
awards at the yearly 4-H Achievement Day.
She was instrumental in starting a Beef Appreciation Day in
Vermilion Parish where any 4-H member who participates in a
Beef Project throughout the parish for the year is
recognized.
She has been an active member of the Vermilion Parish
Cattlewomen Association for the past 30 years and has served
as president for numerous years. Lorraine is also president
elect on the Louisiana Cattlewomen Association Board.
