Hillarie Hebert, daughter of James and
Charlsie Hebert, has been named the Beef Scholarship winner
for the 2010 Louisiana Cattle Festival.
Hillarie is 17 years old and a senior at Kaplan High School.
She has a sister, Alysse, and a brother, Ty. Hillarie is an
active 4-H member and has been involved in the beef project
for nine years, raising and showing Brahman Cattle. Hillarie
is following in the footsteps of her family and is a 5th
generation cattle producer. Today she owns a small herd of
Brahman cattle where she utilizes artificial insemination
and embryo transfers to improve the genetics of her herd.
Hillarie’s accomplishments during her 4-H career have been
outstanding in the Beef project. She has exhibited her
animals on the parish, district, state, and national level
where she has won numerous awards. In the show ring, she has
won belt buckles and other prizes for outstanding
showmanship skills on all levels of competition. Hillarie
was awarded the North American International Livestock
Exposition (NAILE) trip to Louisville, Kentucky, where she
was able to show her Brahman Heifer and won first in her
class.
In addition to showing, Hillarie won an all expense paid
trip to the National Club Congress in Atlanta, Georgia for
placing State Winner in the Beef Records Contest. She also
participated in 4-H University on the LSU campus for the
past four years. She competed in the Co-op Speech and Meat
Identification Contests where she has been a Blue Ribbon
winner each year.
Hillarie is a member of the Louisiana Junior Brahman
Association (LJBA) and All American Brahman Association.
Hillarie is Vice-President of the LJBA and Director for AJBA.
She served as LJBA Queen during 2009-2010. She has won
Champion Brahman Heifer at LSU, Champion Showman and Premier
Exhibitor Contest. Hillarie is also a member of the
Louisiana Junior Cattleman’s Association. She was honored as
the 2008 Junior Cattleman and 2006 Junior Parade Marshal for
the Louisiana Cattle Festival Association.
Hillarie is a hard worker and extremely dependable. Her
future plans include raising her Brahman cattle to promote
the beef industry. Hillarie wants to pursue a degree in
Speech Pathology at McNeese University in Lake Charles.
Hillarie is most deserving of the honor to be named Beef
Scholarship Winner for the 2010 Louisiana Cattle Festival.
