Jaida
Griffin, daughter of Presley and Barbara Griffin, has been named Jr. Parade
Marshall for the 2004 Louisiana Cattle Festival. She is 14 years old, has two
brothers, Slade and Cade Griffin and has been an active 4-H member for five
years and a Jr. Leader member for one year. Jaida has participated in the Beef
project for one year, showing Brangus cattle. Accomplishments during her 4-H
career have been outstanding. Awards won in the Beef Project are: State
Livestock Records in 6th grade- 1st, Parish Premier Exhibitor-5th, Parish Beef
Records- 1st, Beef Cookery-Red Ribbon and 3rd, Livestock Judging-3rd, and Beef
Poster Contest- Blue Ribbon. She has shown her Brangus on the Parish, District
and State levels. Jaida's involvement in 4-H includes more than her Beef
Project. She has served as CRD Chairman and is currently serving as Reporter for
her club and CRD for the Jr. Leader club. She also participates in Horticulture,
winning 1st with her garden for the past three years. In the Aquaculture
Project she placed 1st
at
Parish, 1st
at
District and 2nd at State for Seafood Ambassador. Jaida is also involved in the
Foods and Nutrition, Rabbit, Citizenship and Leadership Projects. This summer
she attended Short Course in Dog Care and placed in the Blue Ribbon group. She
was also the Good Provider winner in 7th grade. This year Jaida was Vermilion
Parish Top Girl and won 1st in Overall Records. Away from 4-H Jaida takes
piano, dancing, attends a Gifted Program at UL, and was awarded the Post's
Cereal Rise and Shine Award for her community service work. Jaida works hard in
all her projects, but the Beef Project is close to her heart. Her dream is to
one day have her own herd of Brangus cattle. With all this said, she is most
deserving of the
honor to Jr. Parade Marshall of the
2004 Louisiana Cattle Festival.
