Phyllis Taylor

Phyllis M. Taylor is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Taylor Energy Company LLC since the death of her husband, Patrick F. Taylor, in November 2004. The privately owned Louisiana corporation was founded by Mr. Taylor in 1979.

A graduate of Tulane University School of Law, Mrs. Taylor served as law clerk for the Supreme Court of Louisiana and Orleans Parish Civil District Court. Her career in the oil industry began in 1972, when she became in-house counsel for John W. Mecom, Sr.

Mrs. Taylor also serves as Chairman and President of the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation. This philanthropic organization was started in 1985 with its emphasis on benefitting education, law enforcement, the military and other humanitarian efforts.

In the last twenty years Mrs. Taylor has served and continues to serve on the boards of numerous organizations. At present she serves on the New Orleans Business Council and Education's Next Horizon Advisory Council. She also serves on the boards of the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, Greater New Orleans Foundation, New Orleans Museum of Art and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. She has received numerous awards in recognition of her public service. She was recently appointed to the Education Commission of the States.
