Charles Litteral 2003 Louisiana Cattle Festival and Fair Parade Grand Marshal President, Louisiana Cattlemens Association 2003 If you have ever wondered who goes to so much trouble to set up the scales and panels for the LSU Livestock Show or who cuts all those steaks at the Louisiana State Fair, his name is Charles Litteral. Those of us who know him know that he is a man who pays attention to detail. He tackles every project, no matter how small, with incredible energy and will not stop until the job is done and done right! Charles has taken on the chore of being LCA President and tackles this job with his own brand of enthusiasm.
Charles Litteral was raised on a diversified soybean, rice, and cattle operation. He is a third generation farmer and rancher. In high school, Charles participated in the youth livestock program showing market steers.
After graduating from high school in 1955, Charles decided to attend Louisiana State University, later transferring to McNeese State University. Charles worked on an Animal Husbandry degree that is now known as the Animal Science curriculum.
After his college years, Charles worked for Herrin Transportation Co. for ten years. He attended many conferences to further his knowledge such as the National Executive Institute, Human Relations Conference, and Wood Badge Training. In 1972, Charles took a job with Continental Oil Co. in their offshore division.
In 1975, his father Glenn Litteral, Sr. retired and Charles came home to manage the family farm. Charles maintained the cattle operation and produced commercial cattle. Charles prefers the 5/8th Limousin x 3/8th Brahman crosses.
He and his wife Barbara decided to retire from farming rice and soybeans in 2002 but also decided to keep raising the cattle. In addition, Charles is a dealer for Pearson Livestock Equipment and Tru-Test Scales. Charles and Barbara have three daughters: Karen Ann, Glenda, and Cynthia Gene.
