She is the daughter of Mickey and Donna Mire
and is a 13-year-old student in the eighth
grade at Maltrait Memorial Catholic School
in Kaplan. Darian is the eldest of two
children; her younger brother is Caleb Mire.
She is an active 4-H member involved in the
beef project and a proud member of the
Vermilion Parish Show Team. This will be her
fifth year of raising and showing Brahman
cattle.
Her uncle Scott and aunt Jenny Esthay raise
Brahmans and have been very generous in
giving her the tools she needs to be
successful.
In 2005-2006, she placed first in class at
six local shows with her bull, Taurus. She
went on to receive Reserve Grand Champion at
parish, first at district and second at
state level competition. In 2006-2007, she
brought home five first places in class with
her heifer, Daisy. She won reserve grand
champion at the district show. In 2007-2008,
she placed first in five shows, including
Parish and District with her heifers, Daisy
and Jessie. In 2008-2009, she had several
second place awards in showmanship. Darian
has participated in parish group at state
all four years.
Darian participates in 10-15 cattle shows a
year. She is a member of the Louisiana
Junior Brahman Association (LJBA) and the
American Brahman Breeder’s Association. She
has attended the LJBA summer show for the
last four years. She attended the All
American Brahman show in Texas in July. She
placed second with her photo and third with
her poster promoting Brahman cattle.
Darian placed first in the parish with her
beef record book in 2008 and 2009. In
addition to her beef project, she has
participated and placed in cooking contests,
poster contests, many clinics and the dog
show. She participated and placed at
Achievement Day for the past three years.
She qualified to attend 4-H camp and
challenge camp. Her efforts have allowed her
to be an outstanding club member at large
for the past three years.
She is active in several clubs at Maltrait,
including the Beta Club. Darian has attended
Camel’s Backstage Dance Studio for eight
years. She has been a dance instructor and
leader for two years there also.
Darian is an over-achiever, very dedicated,
dependable and hard-working. She is a
natural and has a devotion to her cattle.
Darian realizes that through her hard work
she can achieve success. With all her
efforts and many accomplishments, she is
most deserving of the honor to be named
Junior Parade Marshall for the 2009
Louisiana Cattle Festival.
