Elysse Simon 2003 Jr. Parade Marshall
Elysse Simon has been named Jr. parade Marshall for the 2003 Louisiana Cattle Festival. Elysse is 14 years old and will be a freshman at Kaplan High School this year. She has been an active 4-H member for 5 years. Participating in the Beef Project all five years, she has raised and shown Brahman Cattle. Accomplishments during her 4-H career have been very outstanding. She has won and received numerous awards in the Beef Project throughout her 4-H career: District Beef Cookery- Blue Ribbon, Overall Beef Cookery, Beef Achievement, State Beef Records in he 6th Grade- Blue Ribbon, Parish premier Exhibitor- 2nd, 3rd, and 5th, Reserve Championship Vermilion Bred at Parish Livestock Show, Parish Beef Records- two 1st, 2nd and two Blue Ribbons. Elysses involvement in 4-H includes more than her Beef Project. She has served as CRD Chairman, Parliamentarian and President of her clubs. She also participates in the Clothing Project, Cookery Contests, Citizenship and Community Service Projects. This summer Elysse attended Short Course in Clothing-Casual Wear and placed in the blue Ribbon group. She also entered State Records this summer in Animal Science, Community Study and Good Provider. She placed Blue Ribbon in Community Study and First Alternate in the Good provider Records. Elysses 4-H leader this past year was Mrs. Dana Trahan at Rene Rost. Her leader this year will be Mrs. Nancy Marceaux. Elysse is the daughter of Arne and June Simon. She has five siblings- Todd, Kayla, Emily, Katie and Austin Simon. It can be said that Elysse Simon is a true cattle woman and is most deserving of the honor to be Jr. Parade Marshall of the 2003 Louisiana Cattle Festival.
