Millie Manning Harris

Millie has been actively involved in promoting the Louisiana Cattle Festival since 1997 when she was crowned the 49th Louisiana Cattle Festival Queen by outgoing Queen, Miss Anne Katherine Lene'. After receiving the honor and responsibility of representing the Festival, Millie began traveling Louisiana promoting the Festival and Abbeville. During her year, Millie had the opportunity to represent our community at the Washington Mardi Gras Ball and at the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals Queen of Queens competition, where she placed second runner up. Millie has very fond memories of that year, the fondest being that folks throughout the state assumed that she was from Abbeville because she spoke so highly of the community and the Louisiana Cattle Festival. "Never have I been so happy someone was mistaken as when I heard someone say "She's one of the Abbeville girls", I never corrected them".

Since 1997, Millie has returned to the Festival every year to work as an Emcee for the Queen's pageant, judge for the Teen Queen's pageant or just to help keep a wonderful tradition going and spend some quality time in Abbeville.

"Millie resides in Gretna, Louisiana, where she is an active Promotions Model with a local model and talent agency and volunteers to help create awareness for the need of medical research to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. She is also a professional motivational speaker, working with local high schools to motivate students to set and achieve realistic career and educational goals. In her spare time, Millie enjoys fishing, horse racing and working with the Louisiana Crawfish Festival to produce an outstanding pageant.
When asked what her favorite time of year is, she simply replies, "the first weekend in October, the weather is just perfect for a fantastic festival, good food and a quick trip to Abbeville"
